Why are people worried about America's problems?

We have enough people over here being shot and stabbed so we need to sort ourselves out first.

The Santa Fe school shooter has just been identified as a pro-Nazi gun nut. Is anyone surprised?

I just read the little cunt that did this had planned to top himself after his rampage but didnt have the balls to go through with it, hence his capture.

Will no doubt get the death sentence then the PC lot will keep appealing etc, meanwhile he will live in fear or solitary for the next 10 odd years that charade goes on.

Have NRA blamed anything and everything except the guns used yet?

Re: Texas school shooting - multiple fatalities
Mental illness obviously plays a role. When you fill your kids up with mind bending drugs they may well go doolally completely. Allow them access to military grade weapons then you'll have disaster after disaster.
You certainly dont kill people without being mentally off centre.

Re: Texas school shooting - multiple fatalities
I wonder how many days after this tragedy it will take for the orange waste of space to stand in front of a crowd and praise Guns and the second amendment???.

Knowing America it will be 50% blaming mental illness whilst the other Intelligent 50% blame guns and dumb lax gun laws.

Capitol

I don;t seek or need any words from you about this.

You decided to revert to type, instead of debating what I wrote, you preferred to label me as a drug user and therefore my arguments would carry little weight and should be dismissed, even though this is a ridiculous label to apply to me or anybody that you don;t know personally.

When will you learn? Many of us hope to discuss with others and maybe learn something in the process about others or even ourselves. We can have some fun and even banter, but trying to shut down someone's opinion with simple insults and arrogance is petulant and vain.

Try reading and listening more to people who have a different opinion to you and finding out why, you may learn something.

Well sorry for your loss there Rios.

Your attempt to be the victim in this post doesn't really relate though. Nor do your other ill-conceived posts on the matter.

More guns - a solution that is it's own problem.

The answer? Fucked if I know, that genie's long fled the bottle, set up home and has great-grandchildren now.

Education is probably the answer, but as in many cases it's a long term, pan-generational thing.

If I were to give it much thought, I'd say that, despite people saluting the flag, despite being called the United States of America, at a personal, operational level, it's anything but united - it's a collection of several million disparate individuals all looking out exclusively for themselves, at any cost.

Some nations - particularly in South-east Asia - can carry this off and still retain a fully functioning society, but something in the immigrant (as in post 1492) US population's make-up trumps (sic) whatever it is that holds a society together.

Thank you for your kind words, but there is no need.

His passing healed a wound in the family, and closed many open chapters that many in my family did not want to read.

You gave me your sincere condolensces at the time - you may not remember my brother died and my cousin (a serving prison officer) was murdered on the IoW within two weeks of each other over christmas and new year 16/17.

I grieved for my cousin more.

Zeb

You'd think so, wouldn't you?

You'd assume that the milk of human kindness had been nursed into all of us when we were young.

But there is a kinder, gentler form of politics out there now, which has inveigled its way into every nook and cranny of our beings.

I am a middle aged white, economically right wing male gammon who loves his country with all of its faults and therefore I must be made to pay for my unearnt privilege.

Oh christ Rios that's horrible.
Have seen a couple of friends go that way too and it is a horrendous thing to be part of.
It all seems such fun when you are young but some just never reign back.

No CM.

Having seen my eldest brother ruin his life with drugs over the last twenty five years and holding his hand whilst he died in hospital, alone and in despair the christmas before last, you may not be surprised to hear that I am pretty much anti-drugs.

Re: Texas school shooting - multiple fatalities
Would a blanket ban on reporting these shootings in the mass media until all the victims have been buried help?

Make it that people have to actively seek out further information beyond the headline so that whoever commits these acts realises that they won't get their instant hit of 15 minutes of fame by going out "guns blazing".

I know many people think they've got a divine right to be spoon-fed life as it happens all around them, and that it won't stop ALL such incidents, but stopping one or two has got to be better than not stopping any, surely...

Maybe that credit just ran out.....

GOP congress.

Republicans see it, alongside abortion, as a wedge issue that can convince stupid people to vote for tax cuts for the rich.

To put the record straight, Obama tried to introduce laws to calm things down, but the NRA lobby is very strong. The Republican Party just love their guns, so don't ever expect any improvement under a Trump Republican presidency!
